A digital detox (or digital fast) means stepping away from your phone and screens for a set time by choice, not because the signal dropped. Most guides send you abroad, yet Saudi Arabia has settings that make leaving the screen easier: silent desert, cool mountains and the sea. Motnfs designs digital-detox trips in three of them; here is a short guide to choosing.
How to choose
- Pace: do you want quiet and silence, or physical activity that keeps you off the screen?
- Setting: desert and dark skies, cool mountains, or the sea?
- Length: a short weekend, or four full days?
- Group: a small mixed group, or a women-only group?
AlUla: silence and dark skies
On Balance we spend three days in AlUla away from city life and screens: a silent experience in nature, a day in Sharaan Nature Reserve, and a night at Gharameel for stargazing and “A Letter from a Stranger”. It suits anyone who wants real rest and comfortable lodging rather than camping; if you want to see more of AlUla’s landmarks, Istakshif · Explore suits you better.
Asir: the Tanumah and Al-Namas mountains
Reconnect is three days and two nights in the Tanumah and Al-Namas mountains. It isn’t only about putting the phone down but about rebuilding habits city life took: sleeping on time, walking with no destination, conversation without notifications, eating slowly.
Yanbu: the sea and journaling
Dive Within is four days at Yanbu on the Red Sea: a discovery dive with a certified PADI centre (no experience needed), an island, kayaking and paddleboarding — and one tool for the inner side of the trip, writing and journaling at dawn, on the beach and after each day.

Questions
Do I need to be very fit? In Asir the walking is moderate, at altitude, and needs no special fitness; at Yanbu the discovery dive needs no previous experience.
